The Smart Reorder Page
Open Smart Reorder in the main menu.
Click Open User Guide next to the page title on the Smart Reorder page to open this guide at any time. The Sales period window has its own Open User Guide link to Sales period and planning days.
Recommendations based on
The line above the summary cards tells you what the recommendations on the page were calculated with: the sales period and the plan. For example Recent sales (last 30/60/90 days) · Plan: lead time + order cycle (the default), or Sales from 2025-11-01 to 2025-12-31 · adjusted +10% · Plan: next 60 days.
Click Change to pick another sales period (for example the same season last year) or a number of days to plan for. See Sales period and planning days.

Summary cards
| Card | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Need to order | Products that will run out before a new order could arrive. Order these first. |
| Recommended | Products at or below their reorder point. Order them now to avoid running out. |
| Healthy | Products with enough stock for now. |
| Overstock | Products with more stock than your overstock threshold (120 days of sales by default). |
| Check: no sales in period | Only with a custom sales period: products that sold nothing during that period but sell now. Click it to list them. See Check: no sales in period. Hidden when there are none. |
| Revenue at risk | Total sales you could lose because products run out before a new order arrives, if you ordered everything today. |
| Recommended purchase | Total cost of all recommended quantities (Need to order + Recommended), per currency. Products without a cost aren't counted. |
Click a status card to show only the products in that status.
With a custom sales period, a line under the cards shows what the Need to order and Recommended cards would show with recent sales, for example With recent sales instead: 12 need to order, 30 recommended.
Under the cards, Last calculated shows how long ago the recommendations were updated. Click Recalculate to update them now.
Statuses
| Status | When |
|---|---|
| Need to order | Stock plus incoming will run out within the supplier's lead time. Even if you order today, you may run out before the goods arrive. |
| Recommended | Stock plus incoming is at or below the reorder point (the stock needed to cover the lead time plus safety stock, or your min stock if higher). Also used for a product with no recent sales whose stock is below its min stock. |
| Healthy | Enough stock for now. No order needed yet. |
| Overstock | More stock than your overstock threshold, in days of sales. Consider not reordering. |
| No sales | No sales in the last 90 days, and no min stock to keep up. |
The exact rules are in How recommendations are calculated.
Filters and search
- Status: tick one or more statuses. Need to order and Recommended are ticked by default.
- Supplier: show one supplier's products, or No supplier for products not assigned to any supplier.
- Vendor: show one vendor's products.
- Search: product name, variant name or SKU.
The list is sorted by Revenue at risk (highest first) by default, so the products that cost you the most when they run out come first. Click a column header to sort by another column.
Columns
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Product | Product, variant and SKU |
| Status | See above. Stock limit: ~N of X days under it means your max stock stops the target from covering your whole plan (when you plan for X days). |
| On hand | Current stock in Shopify, all locations |
| Incoming | Quantity still to be received on open purchase orders (Pending, Confirmed, Transferring) |
| Avg/day | Average daily sales, not counting days the product was out of stock. With a custom sales period, a line under it shows the speed with recent sales (Recent sales: x/day), or Not sold in that period, recent sales used, or No sales in that period · sells x/day now. |
| Days of stock | How many days the stock on hand lasts at the current sales speed ("—" when there are no sales) |
| Lead time | Days the supplier takes to deliver. Arrives after your X-day plan when it's X days or more and you plan for X days. |
| Recommended qty | Quantity to order. You can change it before creating a PO. For products that sold nothing in a custom period, Based on recent sales: N is a hint you can type in yourself. |
| Supplier | Supplier picked for this product, or No supplier |
| Unit cost | Supplier price, or Shopify cost in the same currency ("—" when there is none) |
| Est. cost | Recommended qty × unit cost |
| Revenue at risk | Sales you could lose before a new order arrives |
| Why? | Opens the explanation for this product. See Why? explanations. |
Export to CSV
Click Export Csv to download every product matching the current filters (not only the page you're on). On top of the columns above, the file includes the vendor, sales for 30/60/90 days, days out of stock (last 30 days), where the lead time comes from, the order cycle, the reorder point, the target stock, why the supplier was picked, the currency and the expected stock-out date. It's handy for checking the numbers in a spreadsheet or sharing them with your team.
These columns are added at the end of the file, so the columns above stay in the same place:
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
basis_source | Where the product's sales speed comes from: recent (recent sales), period (the custom period), period_partial (the custom period, counted from the product's first sale), recent_fallback (not on sale yet during the period, recent sales used), period_zero (sold nothing in the period, see Check: no sales in period) |
ads_recent, status_recent, qty_recent | Sales speed, status and recommended quantity with recent sales, for comparison |
sold_ref, ref_days | Units sold in the custom period, and the number of days counted (in-stock days, at least 7) |
stockout_ref, ref_covered_days | Days out of stock in the period, and how many days of the period have stock history for this product |
basis_mode, basis_from, basis_to, adjust_pct | The sales period used (recent or custom), its first and last day, and the adjustment percentage. The same on every row. |
horizon_days | The planning days. Empty means the default (lead time + order cycle of each supplier). |
run_id | The number of the calculation the file comes from. The purchase orders' history shows the same number. |
With a custom sales period, the file name ends with _period. The file always matches the results shown on the page, even while a new calculation is running.
Recalculate
Recommendations are updated automatically at least every 6 hours. Click Recalculate after you change settings, receive a delivery or create purchase orders, to see updated numbers right away.
- Most shops are done in a few seconds and the page reloads by itself.
- For a large catalog, a blue banner shows Recalculating recommendations: x / y products, about N min left and the table keeps showing the previous results until the new ones are ready. While the page is open, it keeps calculating as fast as possible and reloads by itself when done. You can leave the page: the calculation continues in the background, but it may take longer. When you come back, the banner shows again if it isn't finished.
- While the banner is shown, clicking Create PO asks you to confirm, because the quantities are from the previous calculation.
